The Air Traffic Procedures Advisory Committee (ATPAC) makes recommendations for standardizing, clarifying, and upgrading present air traffic control procedures and practices. It also has the function of reviewing new or revised procedures necessary to accommodate changing air traffic control concepts.
ATPAC serves the public interest by providing a forum for interaction among the FAA, the military, the airlines, airline pilots, air traffic control representatives, general aviation pilots, business pilots, and their representatives. The level of expertise and balanced viewpoint on this committee has enabled early identification of potential problem areas and accelerated early corrective action. As a result, a much greater level of safety and public confidence in the nations air transportation system has occurred.
It is very important that the bargaining unit members provide any suggestions for improvement to an existing procedure. Also, any ideas for something new which they believe is needed to improve the safety of the ATC system. Please give any suggestions to your local safety representative or forward them to your regional safety chairperson. You can also submit a suggestion using the online suggestion form.
All ATPAC meetings will be open to the general public, and timely notice of such meetings shall be
published in the Federal Register at least 15 days before the meeting, except in
emergency situations. The proposed agenda, as well as the time and place of the meeting
and information that the meeting will be open to the public, should be included in the
notice.
