Captain Ben Rich - American Airlines
Captain Ben Rich is an 18 year veteran at American Airlines and currently flys the Boeing 737-800 out of Miami. He serves the membership of the Allied Pilots Association as a member of their National Safety Committee, and has acted as a Party Coordinator and Party Member on several NTSB investigations.
Previously, he served 23 years in the US Air Force and Air Force Reserves retiring as a Lieutentant Colonel from the position of Air Force Representative at Headquarters FAA in Washington, D.C. He also served as an Air Force Action Officer for the Air Force IG overseeing all accident and incident investigations for all turbojet powered transport aircraft, and served as a Airlift Wing Chief of Safety at Andrews Air Force Base.
Captain Rich has accumlated over 13,000 flying hours and is type rated in the Boeing 737, MD-80, and MD-11. His Air Force career included command on C-141 Starlifters and C-9 Nightingales as well as being a fully qualified Radar Approach Control and Tower ATC specialist.
