Acting Federal Security
Jim Lair joined the Agency as the Acting Federal Security Director in February 2005. He came to the Agency following managing the Flight Safety Aviation Training Center at the DFW Airport. Prior to that, he worked for Lockheed Martin on the development of the Navy Variant of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. Jim retired as a Rear Admiral (08) from the United States Navy in 1995 after 38 years of service in the United States Marines and Navy. He commanded a Strike/Fighter Squadron, Carrier Air Wing, Fleet Oiler, the Carrier America and was Commander, Carrier Striking Force, U.S. 6th Fleet. His last assignment was Director of Operations, Combat Commander, U.S. Forces, Europe.Jim earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School and his Masters of Science Degree from George Washington University.
